On T.E.Hulme’s View of Poetic Language

英国诗人、诗歌理论家T.E.休姆是英美现代主义诗歌运动的重要奠基者,他对英美诗歌现代化的重要贡献主要体现在其新颖独特的诗歌语言观,这也反映了他对英美诗歌现代审美转型新方向的认识。因而,以此为切入点,分析他对诗歌语言的诉求,挖掘他最具影响的诗歌理念"意象"的丰富内涵,能加深对休姆的哲学思想和诗学理念关系的认识,藉此也可以管窥现代主义诗歌发轫期背后的社会、历史语境和时代精神。

As a forerunner of the modern movement of English poetry in the early twentieth century,T.E.Hulme plays an important part in promoting and setting a new mode and direction for the development of English poetry.This paper holds that the core concern of Hulme’s poetic theory is his view of poetic language,which is based on his consideration of the general nature of language itself and which finally finds expression in his influential concept of"image".Viewed in a larger background of intellectual basis,Hulme’s poetics is only part of his worldview,which in turn reflects and reshapes the spirit of age of his time.
