摘要
宇宙电影股份公司(Universum-Film AG)简称乌发(Ufa),是两次世界大战期间德国最大的电影公司、默片时代好莱坞之劲敌。乌发的建立不是德国电影业自然发展的结果,而是第一次世界大战的产物。它是德国最高统帅部出于战争宣传的需要,与德意志银行联合促成的战时宣传机构,然而其在一战中尚未发挥效用德国便战败。战后乌发未被解散而经由德意志银行接管转变为一家私营企业。乌发的建立基本统一了德国的电影业,形成了具有垄断性质的电影康采恩,但同时也埋下被希特勒攫取为宣传机器的隐患。
Universum-film AG(Ufa)was Germany's largest film company in the interwar period and the majorrival of Hollywood during the silent film era.The establishment of Ufa was not a natural development ofthe German film industry,but a product of the First World War.It was a wartime propaganda agencyjointly organized by the German High Command and Deutsche Bank.However,before it could play arole in WWI,Germany was defeated.After the war,instead of being dispersed,it was taken over byDeutsche Bank and turned into a private company.The establishment of Ufa basically unified and mo-nopolized the German film industry,but it also buried the hidden danger of being seized by Hitler as apropaganda machine.
