西部地方高校学生学术英语(EAP)语言技能需求分析——以陇东学院为例

Analysis on the Language Skills Needs of Students in EAP Western Universities——Take Longdong University as an Example

本研究以Hutchinson&Waters“学习者为中心”的外语需求分析模型为基础,以陇东学院为例,调查分析了西部地方院校学生学术英语(EAP)语言技能的需求。研究发现:(1)西部地方院校学生对学术英语(EAP)语言能力的需求较迫切,其中口语表达能力和写作技能是他们迫切需要的技能,而听力和阅读能力次之;(2)地方院校学生对现阶段已掌握的学术英语(EAP)语言技能评价较低,在学术英语(EAP)听力、口语表达、阅读和写作能力方面存在问题较多,困难较大;(3)西部地方院校大学生对未来职业选择比较保守,有意识地回避对外语能力需求较高的职业。本研究期望通过分析西部地方院校学习者对EAP课程的需求,渴望探索出适合具有地方院校特色的大学英语课程体系,为地方院校学术英语(EAP)课程建设、教材编写与选择、教学设计等提供借鉴。

Based on the Hutchinson&Waters“learner-centered”foreign language needs analysis model and taking Longdong University as an example,this study investigates and analyzes the needs of students’academic English(EAP)language skills in western local colleges.The findings are as follows:(1)students in western local higher colleges are in urgent need of academic English(EAP)language ability,among which oral expression ability and writing skills are the skills they urgently need,followed by listening and reading ability;(2)students in local higher colleges have a low assessment of the academic English(EAP)language skills they have mastered at this stage,and in academic English(EAP),there are many problems and difficulties in listening,oral expression,reading and writing ability;(3)college students in western universities are conservative in their future career choices and consciously avoid occupations with high demand for foreign language competence.Based on the analysis of learners’demand for EAP courses in western local colleges,this study is eager to explore the college English curriculum system suitable for local higher colleges,and provide reference for the construction of academic English(EAP)courses,the compilation and selection of teaching materials,and the teaching design of local higher colleges.
