摘要
为了研究企业通过平衡地理搜索来影响绩效原因及手段,以321家上市企业为样本数据,检验地理搜索双元(即本地搜索与非本地搜索间的差异与交互)对企业绩效的影响,并基于吸收能力视角,检验知识多样性和先前知识基础的调节效应.研究表明,本地搜索与非本地搜索间的差异负向影响企业绩效,但两者的交互正向影响企业绩效;知识多样性与先前知识基础通过增强企业的吸收能力,从而减弱本地搜索与非本地搜索间的差异对企业绩效的负向影响,同时增强本地搜索与非本地搜索间的交互对企业绩效的正向影响.
Why and how can companies influence their performance by balancing geographical search?We examine the impact of ambidextrous geographic search(i.e.the difference and interaction between local and non-local search)on firm performance,and the moderating effect of knowledge diversity and prior knowledge based on absorptive capacity perspective.Our results suggest that the difference between local and non-local search negatively affects firm performance,while the interaction between them positively affects firm performance.Both knowledge diversity and prior knowledge can weaken the negative effect caused by the difference between local and non-local search on firm performance,and enhance the positive effect caused by the interaction between local and non-local search on firm performance through strengthening firm’s absorptive capacity.These results provide new insights into the relationship between external knowledge search and firm performance and the boundary conditions of external knowledge search.
