古汉诗英译本的语言模因分析——以《关雎》英译文为例

An Analysis of English Versions of Linguistic Memes in Ancient Chinese Poems——Take Wooing Ospreys as an example

在古诗翻译过程中,如何处理译本的形式与内容之间的关系,一直是国内外学者的研究焦点。语言模因分析为古汉诗英译研究提供了新的思路。文章从模因理论角度重新审视古汉诗翻译的基本问题,以古诗《关雎》的英译本为例,通过内容、方式与环境等方面考察三种不同译法,研究发现:“音+名”构式是《关雎》爱情诗题表达的成功译本模因;“名+实”转化可以表现诗句英译本模因的强势特征。研究不仅为古汉诗翻译解析提供语言模因的功能描述,而且也为译本模因传播提供可应用性与可操作性范式。

How to deal with the relationship between form and content in translating ancient Chinese poetry has always been the research focus of scholars at home and abroad.The analysis of linguistic memes provides a new way of thinking for translating ancient Chinese poems into English.This article reviews the basic issues of translating classical ancient Chines poems into English,by taking Wooing Ospreys as an example to explore the successful memes between the original poem an its English versions.Through investigating three different versions in terms of content,approach and environment,the research finds that:pronunciation+name structure is the successful meme for the love poem Wooing Ospreys,and the transformation of name+nature can show the strong features of memes in translating ancient Chinese poems.This paper not only provides functional description of linguistic memes for translating and analyzing ancient Chinese poetry,but also provides an applicable and operable paradigm for the spread of English version memes.
