Records of Germany Art Historian Gustav Ecke’s Social Associations in China

德国来华艺术史家艾克是对中国传统物质文化进行学术研究的先驱。本文收集了徐悲鸿旧藏古画上的艾克德文题跋,以及中国近现代文化名人如冯至、徐悲鸿、邓以蛰、季羡林、王世襄、容庚等人的书信、日记和著述中与艾克相关的史料,揭示出艾克在华期间与中国文化名人较为广泛的交游。艾克是近代中外文化交流史上值得注意的人物。

Gustav Ecke,a German art historian who lived in China,was a pioneer in the academic study of Chinese traditional material culture.This paper deals with the German inscriptions by Ecke on the ancient paintings belonging to Xu Beihong as well as the relevant diaries and letters of Chinese modern cultural celebrities such as Feng Zhi,Xu Beihong,Deng Yizhe,Ji Xianlin,Wang Shixiang,and Rong Geng.An analysis of this material reveals that Ecke had a wide range of contacts with Chinese cultural celebrities during his stay in China.Ecke was indeed a notable figure in the modern history of Sino-foreign cultural exchanges.
