《中国辞汇》是英国汉学家梅辉立为帮助汉语学习者理解中国文化典故而编写的一本手册。该手册文学类辞条内容丰富,包括文学家、文学形象、文学典故、文学作品等。在《中国辞汇》出版之前,西人对中国文学的介绍偏重小说,较少涉及诗歌与诗人,《中国辞汇》则几乎囊括了中国各时期最杰出、最有代表性的诗词作者,系统地勾勒出中国文学史上的诗人群像,为中国文学西传做出了重要贡献。

The Chinese Reader’s Manual is a handbook compiled by British sinologist William Frederick Mayers to help Chinese learners understand Chinese cultural allusions.The contents of the manual are rich,including litterateurs,literary images,literary allusions,literary works and so on.Before the publication of this manual,the introduction of Chinese literature by Westerners was more focused on novels rather than poetry and poets.The Chinese Reade’s Manual included the most outstanding and representative writers of Chinese poetry in different periods,which systematically outlined the group of poets in the history of Chinese literature and made an important contribution to Western biographies related to Chinese literature.
