Examples of the Fallacies in the Translation of Ci(Poetry)

对英语文化圈读者而言,“词”是“彼有我无”的文体。词牌名因较强的异质性给翻译工作带来难度,在英译中易产生谬误。这些谬误主要集中在三个方面:源语典故考证之失;词汇差异阐释之失;翻译目的过度介入。在与世界异质文化的交流和碰撞中,我们需要以翻译的方式逐步将词学在异质文化圈推广开来。

For Anglophone readers,Ci has a unique poetic style,which brings difficulties in translation due to its strong heterogeneity.These fallacies tend to occur in English translation in three aspects:the loss of textual allusions in the source language,the loss of interpretation of lexical differences and the excessive involvement related to the purpose of translation.In the communication and encounter with the heterogeneous cultures of the world,we need to gradually popularize Ci in heterogeneous cultural circles by means of translation.
