Thoughts on the Development of Engineering Science as a Discipline in the New Era

摘要 工程科学是自然科学与工程技术的融合,萌生于第一次工业革命中后期的英国,相对成熟于第二次工业革命时期德国哥廷根大学应用力学学派的工作中,但工程科学思想相对完善的论述是钱学森先生首先给出的;中国科学院力学所是中国工程科学思想的摇篮,在流体弹塑性模型、统计细观损伤力学、钻井平台关键技术、高铁实验平台、高超声速激波风洞、“实践十号”卫星等工程科学领域取得了重要进展;新时代中国科学院大学将聚焦国家重大战略需求中的关键科学问题,从学科发展目标、人才所需特质、专业培养课程及机制探索等方面,进一步创新和发展钱学森先生提出的工程科学思想。 Engineering science is a fusion of natural science and engineering technology.Its concept originated in England in the middle and late periods of the first industrial revolution.It was relatively advanced in the School of Applied Mechanics at the University of Göttingen,Germany during the second industrial revolution.However,the concept of engineering science was first comprehensively proposed by Tsien Hsue-shen.The Institute of Mechanics of the Chinese Academy of Sciences is the cradle of Chinese engineering science thinking.Significant progress has been made in engineering sciences,including fluid bullet plastic model,statistical detail damage force,main techniques for drilling platform,high-speed rail experimental platform,hypersonic storm tunnel,and the“Practice 10”satellite.In the new era,the University of the Chinese Academy of Sciences will focus on critical scientific issues in the country’s major strategic needs,innovate and develop the engineering science ideas proposed by Tsien Hsue-shen from the discipline development goals,required characteristics,professional training courses,and mechanism exploration.
