After Jawaharlal Nehru retired from power in May 1964,the leaders of India and the Soviet Union changed one after another, but the relations between the two countries did not show major twists and turns, but continuously developed, and reached their peak in 1971,as evidenced by the signing of the Treaty of Friendship between India and the Soviet Union, which is of a paramilitary nature.Since then, the two countries have basically given priority to development and maintained close cooperation in the fields of diplomacy, economy and trade, military and technological cooperation. Why is that? This paper holds that the four major factors play an important role in the continuous deterioration of Sino-Soviet relations, the ups and downs of Indo-US relations, the relaxation of Sino-US relations and the long-term hostility of Sino-Indian relations.
