On February 25,1900,Mr.Qian Duansheng was born in Son^jiang Prefecture(now part of Shanghai),Jiangsu Province.In 1913,he was admitted to Songjiang(Jiangsu)Provincial No.3 Middle School.In 1916,he transferred to the private Nanyang Middle School in Shanghai.In 1917.he was enrolled at Tsing Hua College in Beijing.In 1919,he went to the United States to study political science at North Dakota State University and obtained his Bachelor's degree of Arts the following year.In the summer of 1920,he went to Harvard University to study history,politics,and economics.In 1922,he graduated with an MA and went on to study for his Ph.D.at Harvard University.
