Citation frequency and downloads are regarded as two major indicators while considering the academic value of scientific papers.They are used to evaluate the depth and breadth of the influence of academic papers from various respective dimensions.In order to explore the relevance,advantages and disadvantages of citation and downloads of scientific and technological papers,based on the analysis of existing literature,it was revealed that there was a certain degree of relevance between them in academic influence,but they were independent of each other,each with advantages and disadvantages;in terms of time,downloads had timelines,while citation had time lag;in terms of the degree of connection with new works,downloads appeared too loose,while the citation frequency appeared closer.Therefore,in the evaluation of different periods and objectives,it was suggested to select indicators with a relatively high degree of fit to ensure the objective and fair evaluation.
