摘要
南非戏剧家马什·马蓬亚的作品对推动南非黑人觉醒运动的发展起到了积极的作用,其代表作《饥饿之土》因其毫不隐讳的政治意识和批判思想而广受关注。通过展现集体记忆的变形和扭曲,剧作家不但揭示了白人思想意识对黑人自身定位所产生的负面影响,而且依托物质客体和象征符号对南非种族制度下的黑人集体记忆进行了重构。在此基础上,剧作家尝试将自己对集体记忆的理解融入黑人群体意识,引导他们思考当下的社会现实,正确面对自我文化身份的认同。
The South African playwright,Maishe Maponya,has contributed greatly to the Black Consciousness Movement in South Africa.As his representative work,The Hungry Earth has been the focus of political critical analysis.The memory dis-tortion portrayed in the work not only exposes the negative influence of the white colonial ideology on the native black popula-tion,but also shows the dependence of black collective memory on objects and symbols.With this in mind,Maponya in-tegrates observed black identity with his own understanding of collective memory.Thus,he aids the popular discourse of the actual social situation and promotes reanalysis of South African black cultural identity.
