图里翻译规范视域下的《大地》中译本对比研究

A Comparative Study of the Chinese Versions of The Good Earth From the Perspective of Toury′s Translation Norms

诺贝尔文学奖获得者赛珍珠的中国题材小说《大地》不断被译介成中文,通过研究不同时期的译本发现,各译者选择翻译该作品的原因不同,翻译过程中所采用的翻译方法和总体的翻译策略倾向也有所不同。本研究从吉迪恩·图里的翻译规范理论视角出发,对比最具代表性的伍蠡甫译本、胡仲持译本和王逢振译本,探索各译本遵循的预备规范和操作规范,基于操作规范反推初始规范,发现伍译本和胡译本倾向于充分性翻译,王译本倾向于接受性翻译,并进一步从社会背景、译者主体性和目标语读者接受三个层面,研究翻译规范变迁的原因。

The Good Earth,a China-themed novel for which Pearl Buck won the Nobel Prize in Literature,has been translated into Chinese for many times.Based on studying the different versions,it is not difficult to find out that the translators in different periods chose to translate the novel for different reasons and demonstrated different tendencies of translation strategies by adopting different translation methods.This paper conducts a comparative study of the most representative versions by Wu Lifu,Hu Zhongchi and Wang Fengzhen from the perspective of Gideon Toury′s theory of translation norms by exploring the preliminary norms,operational norms and initial norms.It has been found out that Wu′s and Hu′s versions are more adequate while Wang′s version is more acceptable based on which the reasons for changes in translation norms are explored from the aspects of social background,translator′s subjectivity and acceptance of target readers.
