基于引文分布特征的科研人员影响力评估实证研究

A New Bibliometric Index Based on Citation Distribution——χ-index

摘要 基于H指数的缺点,介绍一种新型计量指标以提高科研人员影响力评估的准确性。χ指数定义为引文曲线下最大矩形面积的平方根。在详细阐述χ指数定义与特点的基础上,以国内图书情报领域学者数据为实证对象,多维度论述χ指数的评估效用,并深入讨论χ指数与H指数的异同点。研究表明:χ指数与引用次数的平方根显著相关;高产作者和高影响力作者的χ指数明显大于其H指数;χ指数的区分度和公平性高于H指数。 A geometric generalization of the H-index,called theχ-index,is introduced to address some of the problems with the H-index.While the H-index is determined by the maximum square that fits under the citation curve of an author when plotting the number of citations in decreasing order,theχ-index is determined by the maximum area rectangle that fits under the curve.The paper presents a comprehensive empirical comparison between theχ-index and other bibliometric indices,focusing on a comparison with the H-index,by analyzing one dataset-the literature records from the subject of LIS from CNKI.The results show that theχ-index and H-index are strongly correlated,they do exhibit significant differences.Theχ-index allows us to distinguish between influential researchers who have relatively few,but highly-cited,publications and prolific researchers who have many,but less-cited,publications.
