In senior middle school history teaching,teachers should tell the students the basic knowledge and cultivate their good historical cognitive ability.This paper analyzes the problems existing in the current senior middle school history teaching,and discusses the strategy of cultivating students'cognitive ability in senior middle school history teaching:knowledge storage,knowledge construction,making a good cognitive first step;cultivating the thinking of historical materialism,enriching students'cognitive experience;creating classroom atmosphere,expanding textbook knowledge,and improving students'cognitive ability.
