Cognition of the Source of the Yangtze River in Ancient China and its Maps

通过对中国古代文献中关于江源的记载以及保存下来的江源图的分析,可以认为在中国古代的江源认知中,"岷山导江"说一直占据主流;徐霞客提出的金沙江说,虽然也有一定的支持者,但并未对"岷山导江"说产生太大的冲击。虽然在今人看来,"岷山导江"是一种错误的认知,但需要考虑到这是受到"科学主义"影响的现代人的认知,且现代确定河源的标准也不是一种客观标准,因此对于中国古代的认知需要放置在中国传统文化的背景中进行考察。

Through the analysis of the records of the sources of the Yangtze River in ancient Chinese documents and the preserved maps recording the sources of the Yangtze River,it can be concluded that in ancient China,“The source of the Yangtze River is in Minshan Mountains”was dominant.Although Xu Xiake's theory of“the Jinsha River is the source of the Yangtze River”had some supporters,it was not so influential as the former.Although in the eyes of today's people,“The source of the Yangtze River is in Minshan Mountains”is incorrect,we should admit that this is the understanding of modern people under the influence of“scientism”,and the modern standard for determining the source of rivers is not always a kind of objective standards.Thus,any understanding of ancient China should take the context of traditional Chinese culture into consideration.
