The description of Dublin,the metropolis of Ireland,by James Joyce's in Ulysses,wins world-wide echoes across generations.This results partly from his European vision and pioneer insight.One of those influential elements is Futurism.Joyce and Futurist artists had been in the same period and areas.Both of them tried to find a more suitable expression for the new zeitgeist and the urban life.Consequently,Joyce's many literary experiments show similar aesthetic considerations and pursuits to Futurism.The form experiments in Ulysses are not only something of the stream of consciousness technique.The chapter 7,for example,is similar to Futurist paintings in terms not only of objects but also of typeset,sentence patterns,words and other forms of expression.
