Objective:To explore the effect of mindfulness-based stress reduction(MBSR)on mental state and sleep of college students during the epidemic of COVID-19,and provide a reference for promoting college students’mental health. Methods:One hundred and four college students were selected and randomly divided into experimental group(n=53)and control group(n=51).Randomized design of experimental group and control group was employed.Experimental group were received treatments of MBSR5 times, while the control group did not.The Depression Anxiety Stress Scale(DASS-21),Mood State Scale(POMS)and Pittsburgh Sleep Quality Scale(PSQI)were applied during the pre-test and post-test.Results:The total score of DASS-21(t=2.96,P<0.05),subscale score for depression(t=2.21,P<0.05),anxiety(t=2.56,P<0.05),stress(t=2.44,P<0.05)in the experimental group were significantly higher than those of the control group. On the POMS scale, subscale score for stress(t=2.59,P<0.01)and depression(t=2.23,P<0.05)were significantly greater than those of the control group. The total score of PSQI scale(t=4.34,P<0.01),subscale score for sleep efficiency(t=2.12,P<0.05),and sleep time(t=3.90,P<0.01)improved significantly more than those of the control group. Conclusion:MBSR can adjust the mental state of college students and improve their sleep quality during the COVID-19.
