A Study of Subtitle Translation of Forrest Gump from the Perspective of Skopos Theory

With the continuous development of mass media and the increasing integration of the world,China’s relative authorities have imported a lot of foreign movies with original sounds every year.Therefore,subtitle translation is of much significance.Coher⁃ence is superior to fidelity rule in subtitle translation of Forrest Gump,but both submit to the Skopos rule.The Skopos Theory only requires translators to translate for a certain purpose so it gives them much freedom to employ translation strategies and techniques.This paper tries to sum up the principles of subtitle translation in Forrest Gump by applying the three rules of Skopos Theory from the macro perspective.
