元结《县令箴》是历史上首篇以县令为规箴对象的官箴,唐宣宗时曾被收入法典汇纂。其所阐发的宽猛、简繁适中的政策原则,以及明、直、清、惠等德目,既针对当时县政的现实问题与倾向,也来自于他对牧守、县令为政状况的长期观察,是元结为官理念的具体化和进一步发展,对后世影响很大。元结不仅是官箴的提炼、总结者,也是真诚的践行者。《县令箴》所概括的诸德目,并不局限于县令,而具有通行于守令甚至整个官僚集团的品质,它们代表着一个时代的基本共识和崇尚。

Yuanjie’s Maxims to County Magistrates is the first maxims to county magistrates in Chinese history,which was included to the codification of the Xuanzong of the Tang dynasty.The moderate principles stated by him between tolerance and severity,simple and complicated,as well as the virtues of distinct,upright,incorruptible and benevolent,were the realization and further development of Yuanjie’s idea to be an official,and have great influence on future generations,which he expounded,not only aimed at the realistic problems and tendency of the county government at that time,but also comed from his long-term observations of the situation of the state governors and the county magistrates.Yuanjie systemized the maxims to officials,who was also a sincere practitioner for it.The virtues summarized in the Maxims to County Magistrates are not limited to county magistrates,but to all of the officials,as the basic consensus and fascinating in those days.
