Embracing Artificial Intelligence with Evidence-Based Medicine and Regulation

人工智能(artificial intelligence,AI)给医疗行业带来了新的科研技术和新的应用场景,加速了医学证据的挖掘,如利用人工智能技术加速医学影像识别、疾病风险预测、药物发现、基因测序分析等。与此同时,基于人工智能技术的应用(如软件、系统、平台等),也迫切需要有证可循、有据可依,逐步开展定量和定性评估,以实现合规监管。本文概述了人工智能在医疗行业的最新技术和热门应用,着重对人工智能技术的应用评估和监管进行了探讨,并对人工智能医疗健康产业的未来发展前景进行了展望。

Artificial intelligence(AI)has attracted increasing attention in recent years for a wide range of applications in healthcare.Specially,AI is accelerating evidence discovery in medicine,such as AI-enabled medical imaging,risk prediction,drug discovery(drug repurposing),and gene sequencing analysis.Meanwhile,AI-enabled healthcare applications(or software,or system,or platform)need to embrace evidence-based medicine and regulation,towards quantitative and qualitative evaluations,for compliance and integrity.This paper starts from a briefing of AI technologies used in healthcare,then discusses evidence-based medicine and regulation of the existing and ongoing AI-enabled healthcare applications,concluded with the vision of healthy AI-enabled healthcare industry.
