An Analysis of the Changes and Causes of the Status of Women in Banquet Etiquette in Modern China

古代由于受“男尊女卑”思想控制,女性在宴会上的地位低下,有“男女不同席”的传统习俗。而到了近代,随着西方餐饮文化与男女平等思想的传入,中西文化交流融合,中国宴会礼仪逐渐改良出一种崭新的、文明的宴会礼仪,女性获得了与男性共同出席宴会的权利和较为平等的地位。这也是近代中国迈向文明的一个重要表现。

In ancient times,due to the idea of“men are superior to women”control,women in the banquet status is low,there is a tradition of“men and women have different seats”.In modern times,with the introduction of the western catering culture and the idea of equality between men and women,Chinese banquet etiquette has developed a new and civilized banquet etiquette through the exchange and integration of Chinese and Western cultures in modern times.The new banquet etiquette gives women equal rights and status to attend banquets with men,which is also an important manifestation of modern China’s progress towards civilization.
