Eyes and Warriors: The Discourse Construction of Chinese War Correspondents’ Professional Culture--Based on the Analysis of 49 War Memoirs

本文分析了1993年至2019年之间中国大陆公开出版的49部战地记者回忆录,发现中国战地记者在角色认知、从业动机、职业技能和伦理反思四个维度上建构自身的职业文化。中国战地记者一方面受到西方战地新闻业的深刻影响,建构起与西方同行类似的职业话语,另一方面嵌入在中国本土的政治制度、文化传统和新闻实践常规之中,体现出重视国家利益与集体合作的地方性特征。

This article analyzes 49 memoirs written by Chinese war correspondents published in China's Mainland from 1993 to 2019.It finds out that Chinese war correspondents construct their professional culture in four dimensions:role perception,motivation,skills and ethics.On the one hand,Chinese war correspondents have been deeply influenced by Western war journalism and constructed professional discourses similar to their Western peers.On the other hand,Chinese war correspondents are deeply embedded in local political system,cultural traditions and routines of journalistic practice,emphasizing the importance of national interest and collective cooperation.
