欧亚草原被认为是世界文明的"传送带",它促进了欧亚大陆很多重要文化成果的传布,几千年来都是物品、技术、宗教和艺术的集散地。中国北方草原地区是欧亚草原"传送带"中的重要一环[1],是中原农业人群与北方游牧部落相互接触的前沿地带,也是连接欧亚大陆草原文明与中原农业文明的中间环节。但由于北方草原地处中国边疆地区,缺乏相关的史料记载,往往受到学术界的忽视,这导致北方草原考古在国内起步较晚,从事相关研究的学者也很少。

Professor Wuen was one of the trailblazers of northern zone steppe archaeology in China.His research interests covered diverse topics,many of which were groundbreaking.Due to the discipline’s similarity to Eurasian steppe archaeology,Professor Wuen’s research naturally facilitated academic dialogue between China and the rest of the world,thus promoting northern zone steppe archaeology in China amongst international academic circles.During his over three decades-long research career,Professor Wuen made a distinguished contribution to the establishment and development of northern zone steppe archaeology in China.
