《半条棉被》通过贯穿于烟雨湖湘、漏屋空床与洞房花烛等空间影像的棉被意象来完成军民一家、鱼水情深的长征叙事,充分利用了电影的空间特性,也极富有湖湘地域特色。烟雨湖湘是宏大背景的拟喻,既切合地域景观的实际,也匹配长征电影的主题;全片从风雨如晦到雨过天晴,象征着革命的艰难现状与光明未来。漏屋、空床是底层百姓生存困境的缩影。在这漏屋空床里,伴随着故事演进的,是不同人物的视角与人物之间的心理交流。而这鱼水般深情的交流,也正是革命的内涵与基础。作为新婚家当的棉被很自然地引出关于洞房花烛的美好记忆。当女性与家宅都担负着安家定国、兼济天下的重任时,说明电影家宅空间的构建兼含革命起点与目标的双重喻示。
