找回失落的风格:论The Gettysburg Address重译中的风格再现

A Call for the Return of the Style Lost in the Translations of The Gettysburg Address

The Gettysburg Address是一篇重要的政治文献,也是一篇优美的文学经典,迄今至少已有25种汉译本。纵观文献发现,这些译本未能满意地再现原文的主要风格特征,即简洁性、庄重性和互文性。鉴于此,有必要在总结前人风格翻译得失的基础上,进行重译,以找回失落的风格。

The Gettysburg Address is a substantial piece of political writing,as well as a literary classic.Up to the present,there have been at least 25 Chinese translations.In reviewing the existing versions,however,it is found that these translations have not satisfactorily represented the major stylistic features of the original text,particularly the style of conciseness,majesty and intertextuality,out of which arises the necessity for retranslation.For a better representation of the style,scholarly attempts should be made to investigate the gains and losses of the existing translations and a new Chinese version will be provided accordingly as a response to the call for the return of the style lost in the translations of The Gettysburg Address.
