People start cigarette smoking at young age is more susceptible to nicotine addiction. Therefore, the elucidation of neural mechanisms underlying cigarette smoking in young smokers might be helpful in the prevention of nicotine addiction. With the application of amplitude of low-frequency fluctuations(ALFF)approach, the current study detected differences of regional neural activity between young smokers and healthy non-smokers.The research results showed that the ALFF values was increased in the occipital lobe, superior temporal gyrus(STG),and middle frontal gyrus(MFG);while decreased ALFF was detected in the inferior temporal gyrus(ITG)and rectal gyrus(P<0.05,FEW corrected). The current findings may provide additional insights of the neural mechanisms of nicotine addiction.
