Professor Susan S.Lanser,in this essay,highlights the importance of furthering the development of feminist and queer narratologies,to make them more narratological.At first,she argues that feminist and queer narratologies have worked with canons that are too narrow,and suggests the importance of extending their historical and geographic maps.Then she proposes that an intersectional narratology may assist that cartographic project while also moving beyond the confines of literary scholarship.And she suggests that such intersectional strategy might also help to mend the continuing division between cultural and formal approaches evident in the tacit breach between theory of the novel and theory of narrative.She also proposes that feminist and queer literary scholarship,along with other ideologically charged or identity-focused inquiries,might benefit in particular from narratology.In the end,she puts forwards the necessity of exploring the historical value of specific narrative forms related to gender representation,to reveal the importance of feminist and queer narratology in such studies.
