The White Peacock and Lady Chatterley’s Lover are the first and final novels of D.H.Lawrence,in which he shows the sober thoughts on the British society,ethics and human nature in the 20 th century.From the perspective of ethical literary criticism,through analyzing the ethical environment in which the natural civilization and industrial civilization conflict seriously in the two works,and comparing the different ethical choices of the protagonists,which result in disillusionment and hopefulness respectively in the endings of the two novels,the paper explains the development of Lawrence’s views on ethics in the aspects of sexual relations and human nature,thus revealing that modern people should return to the natural civilization,keep their nature and emotion,and release their life instinct under the guidance of rational will,so as to realize the harmony of gender relations as well as the healthy and balanced development of society.
