The works of Patrick Modiano,a famous contemporary French writer,have a typical and unique polyphonic structure.Dialogue is an important feature of polyphonic novels,which is different from the traditional polyphonic narration.Modiano’s innovation of polyphonic structure lies in the large dialogue among multiple voice parts and its unique play to the synchronic art.The author breaks the time limit and the fuzzy time to complete the synchronal dialogue and the unfinished dialogue,and realizes the dialogue between tradition and reality through the self-fictionalized writing and the open text.It fully shows the confused and vagrant living state of the French people in the post-war period.Compared with all other writers,Modiano’s novels show innovative polyphonic artistic features in the narrative structure and meaning of the text.
