Design and Optimization of Beam Shaping Assembly for Thermal Neutron Based on a 2.5 MeV Proton Accelerator for BNCT

The concept of Boron Neutron Capture Therapy(BNCT)is to provoke inside cancerous cells a nuclear reaction between accumulated 10B nuclei and thermal neutron for which the absorption cross section is extremely high.Thus,the cancerous cells can be destroyed by the resulting nuclei with high linear energy transfer[1].
