试论瓷器化妆土工艺及其早期渊源

Discussion on Technology of Dressing Clay in Porcelain Production and Its Early Origin

化妆土工艺是中国古代制瓷技术史上的一项重要成就。本文系统梳理了我国瓷器生产中化妆土工艺的各种技法,并结合史前时期陶器生产中的陶衣工艺,全面探讨了二者之间的关系。本文认为陶衣工艺和化妆土工艺既有相同或相通之处,又有区别,二者之间应是一脉相承的关系。化妆土工艺是陶衣工艺在瓷器阶段的继承和发展,陶衣工艺是化妆土工艺的早期渊源。

The use of engobe is an im portant technological achievement in the history of ceramic production in an-cient China.This study systematically analyzes various decorative techniques with engobe in the porcelain production in China.Through a comparison of the use of slip in the prehistoric ceramic production,this paper addresses the re-lationship between these two decorative techniques.The current study argues that there are distinctions and similarities can be drawn between these two techniques.They both can be traced to the same origin.The decorative technique with engobe in historical time is the continuous development of the prehistoric slipping technique.Therefore,slip can be viewed as the cultural precedent of engobe.
