Compositional Analysis of Prehistoric Chinese Pottery by Handheld X-ray Fluorescence(hhXRF)Analyzer

利用电感耦合等离子体发射光谱、X射线荧光光谱熔融法和手持式X射线荧光光谱仪,分析27个史前陶片的化学组成。在层次聚类分析的基础上,比较三种方法所得到的系统树图以及各自揭示的陶片分布模式。研究指出,在社群(尤其是超地方性社群)尺度上,三种分析手段对于认识陶器的生产和分配网络具有相似程度的分辨力;在家户尺度上,它们同样一致地表现出应用的可行性和前景。研究肯定了手持式X射线荧光仪在史前陶器分析中的有效性。

Three analytical techniques-induc tively coupled plasma atomic emission spectroscopy,X-ray fluorescence analysis with the fusion technique,and handheld X-ray fluorescence analysis)-were applied to the same sample of 27 prehistoric Chinese vessel sherds for their compositional information.Hierarchical cluster analysis was then performed on each compositional dataset to produce dendrograms.Examinations of the dendrogram structure and sherd distribution across each dendrogram led to the conclusion that the three approaches generated compositional data revealing the similar levels of information about pottery production and distribution networks at the local and supra-local community scales(and potentially at the household level as well).The study confirmed the applicability and reliability of handheld x-ray fluorescence analyzer in compositional studies of prehistoric Chinese pottery.
