Prescription,Syndrome and Clinical Application of Zhuye Shigao Decoction

竹叶石膏汤出自《伤寒论》第397条,主治伤寒解后,虚羸少气,气逆欲吐者。竹叶石膏汤证病机为余热仍炽、津气两伤、痰饮内停,其主证除虚羸少气、气逆欲吐外,尚有发热、心烦、便秘溲赤、潮热盗汗、舌红少苔或苔白腻、苔薄黄腻等。临床应视"虚""热""湿"之盛衰而变化方中药、量,随证加减用之。

Zhuye Sigao Decoction was proposed in Article 397 of Treatise on Febrile Diseases.It is used to cope with Qi deficiency and vomiting due to Qi reversing after the treatment of typhoid fever The pathogenesis of Zhuye Sigao Decoction is the large amount of residual heat,with both Jin and Qi injury as well as Phlegm stagnation.The main symptoms include fever,upset,constipation,redness,hot flashes and night sweats,in addition to deficiency of Qi and vomiting.There is red tongue with little fur or white and greasy fur,or thin yellow and greasy fur,etc.Clinically,Chinese medicine prescription should be changed according to the rise and fall of"deficiency","Heat"and"Dampness"as well as according to the syndrome.
