On the“Self-Denial”in Confucianism and Self-Reform of Party Members

私欲是党员干部对自身思想意识进行自我革命的首要对象。儒家"克欲"思想客观分析人的感性欲望的存在,强调开掘自身意志控制欲望,倡导以谋公利导引私欲、升华私欲,这种思想为党员干部树立正确公私观、处理好公私关系提供了切实可行的有益借鉴和方法路径。新时代党员锻造大公无私精神品质、推进思想意识领域自我革命,必须关注自身自然属性与社会属性的博弈,找出差距、修身正己;高扬志向,牢固树立宗旨意识,以志克欲;在为民服务和干事创业中锻造大公无私的精神品质,实现人生价值。

Selfish desire is the primary target for the ideological reform of Party members and officials.The“self-denial”philosophy of Confucianism acknowledges the sensual desires of human beings,but advocates restraining one’s desires with willpower,and seeking public interests to guide and sublimate the selfish desires,which offers a positive reference and option for Party members and officials to develop a sound conception of public interests and private ones,and handle well the relationship between them.To cultivate the selfless character and promote self-reform in ideology in the new era,Party members and officials should attach importance to the game between their natural attribute and social attribute,identify the gaps,cultivate morality and improve oneself.They should aim high,bear in mind firmly the Party’s fundamental purpose,overcome selfish desires with strong willpower,and forge the selfless spirit in dedication to work and serving the people,so as to actualize their values.
