"Song of the White Snow:Seeing Magistrate Wu off upon His Return to the Capital "is the representative poem of Cen Shen, a frontier poet in the Tang Dynasty. The line in the poem,"like a spring breeze come suddenly in the night, countless pear trees covered in blossom"is a popular reciting phrase for hundreds of years. The two lines of the poem are rich in impassioned rhetoric, contrast in colors, and left a fresh aesthetic impression upon readers. Starting from the analysis of the metaphor of"pear flower", this article explores why the poet uses"pear flower"as a metaphor for"snow"in the poem, then discusses the influences and assessment of this rhetoric device upon later generations.
