There are many different social activities in A Dream of Red Mansions, which include: formal visit,dinner party, poetry society and gifts sending. This article analyzes the cultural characteristics of the social activities in the book and tries to prove that these activities have deep cultural deposits and show the characteristics of class, etiquette, kinship and dignity. In describing the activities, it can be found that the author Cao Xueqin holds an positive attitude towards some parts of the social culture and a negative one towards other parts. The description of the social activities in the book not only has great aesthetic value but also presents the unique personality of the characters in the book.
