摘要
音标曾长期作为我国基础教育阶段英语课程中的必修内容,全国范围内小学普及英语课程的近二十年来,音标教学的必要性一直存在争议,新课程改革在实施过程中也给广大教师英语教学带来各种困惑。本文首先从语言环境、认知发展等方面分析中国学生与英语母语国家儿童英语语音和读写能力发展的本质差异,梳理对比自然拼读和音标教学的不同功能和适用对象,认为自然拼读的主要功能是供英语为母语的儿童学习读写,而音标则更适合英语作为外语的学生学习掌握英语语音;在此基础上论述了目前国内教学环境下中小学音标教学的必要性;最后结合音标教学的实际案例分析了音标教学在小学阶段的可行性、实效性以及需要注意的问题。
Phonetic symbols(IPA)have long been an important content in English teaching in secondary schools in China.Since the English curriculum was widely offered in primary schools in 2001,there has been a controversy on the necessity of phonetics teaching for English in primary schools,and during the past 10 years of New Curriculum Reform,the masses of teachers often encounter various confusion.This paper first analyzes the essential differences between Chinese students and native English speakers in the development of English pronunciation and literacy,followed by the comparative analysis of the essential differences between IPA and Phonics.Then,the necessity of phonetics teaching in primary schools is discussed based on the IPA teaching practice in Qufu City,Shandong Province in the past few years.
