Lycopene,a kind of carotenoid,has the effects of antioxidation,hypolipidemic and anti-inflammatory.As a naturally feed additive,lycopene can improve reproductive capacity and quality of animal products,and has bright application prospect in animal industry.This article summarized the physiological function,as well as the latest research findings on the application in animal production,which could be regarded as a reference for application of lycopene.
