Peatlands are an important type of natural wetlands, with multiple ecosystem services such as carbon sequestration, hydrological regulation and biodiversity maintenance. Affected by natural disasters such as erosion and fire as well as strong human disturbances such as drainage, overgrazing and infrastructure construction, the global peatland area has been shrinking, and peatlands become a carbon source in the context of global climate change. This paper reviews the research progress in degraded peatland restoration technologies in Europe and North America from the aspects of hydrological restoration, vegetation restoration and ecological monitoring and evaluation. The paper prospects the research on the alpine wetland restoration technologies, which is aimed to provide a reference for the ecological restoration of degraded alpine wetlands in China.
