From Textbook to Text: A New Exploration of the Concept of “Domain Course” for Advanced Chinese in U.S. Colleges and Universities

摘要 本文提出用"领域课程"的二语教学法理念来指导高级中文跨学科课程的设计。本文以一门文化学课程为例,探讨"领域课程"在设计与实施方面的步骤、挑战以及教学效果,并介绍美国各高校"领域课程"的不同做法。文章也阐述了牛津导师制教学模式的渊源及其在优高级外语教学中的适用性,特别是设计"领域课程"时的效用。最后,文章提出了新型高年级课程对国际汉语师资教育、教学资料开发所提出的新要求。 This article proposes using the second language teaching concept of "domain course" to guide the design of cross-disciplinary Chinese courses at the advanced level.Taking a cultural course as an example,the article discusses the procedures,challenges and teaching effects of designing and implementing a domain course.The article introduces different forms of domain courses at various U.S.colleges and universities as well.The article also investigates the origin of an instructional model called Oxford Tutorial and explores its applicability in foreign language education at the superior and advanced levels,especially its effects in designing domain courses.Finally,the article puts forward the new requirements for international Chinese language teacher training and material development of the new advanced course.
