Investigation and analysis on academic journal editors’ professional awareness and satisfaction

【目的】调查分析学术期刊编辑的职业认知度和满意度现状,提出编辑职业发展对策与建议。【方法】采用在线问卷抽样方式调查354名学术期刊编辑,从3个方面了解及分析编辑的职业认知度和职业满意度,分类分析总结学术期刊编辑的职业认知度及满意度的现状和特点。【结果】学术期刊编辑有较高的职业认知度,对未来职业发展有明确的规划,有一定信心;普遍认为工作量较大,半数对编辑工作基本满意或不满意,有超过3成出版单位不重视继续教育,主办单位、年龄、职位、任职时间、期刊语种等因素对学术期刊编辑职业认知度及满意度的影响较大。【结论】促进学术期刊编辑职业发展的建议:定位职业边界,做好编辑职业规划;提供政策支持,保障编辑未来发展;创造良好环境,提升职业满意度;加强继续教育,提升编辑职业能力。

[Purposes] This paper aims to investigate the academic journal editors’ current professional aw areness and satisfaction and put forw ard suggestions on editors’ career development. [Methods] With an online questionnaire,the professional aw areness and satisfaction of a total of 354 academic journal editors w ere surveyed respectively from three perspectives. Subsequently,the related characteristics w ere summarized and analyzed. [Findings] Academic journal editors have strong professional aw areness,clear career plans,and confidence in this occupation. Editors generally complain of heavy w orkload and nearly half of the respondents are basically satisfied or dissatisfied w ith this w ork. A total of 31.9% of the publishers think little of editors’ continuing education. Professional aw areness and satisfaction of academic journal editors are highly associated w ith factors like sponsors of journals,editors’ age,editors’ employment time,and languages of journals. [Conclusions]To promote the career development of academic journal editors,w e propose the follow ing suggestions: clarifying the responsibilities of editors,making clear career plans of editors,providing supporting policies to guarantee editors’ future development,creating a favorable environment to increase editors’ satisfaction,and enhancing continuing education to improve editors’ professional competence.
