摘要
以BBC纪录片《中国的秘密》为语料,对三百多名非英语专业大学生的文化自觉现状进行问卷调查。结果显示:大学生对纪录片文化立场识别能力有限;对该片论及的中国教育问题,有一定体认,但对原因的探索有一定局限性;对英国教育特征认知不足,几乎无法进行中英对比。课堂教学是培养大学生文化自觉的重要途径。在教学形式上,教师可充分利用互动性活动。在教学内容上,教师可引导学生分析BBC纪录片的叙事模式,并将其放在宏观社会文化语境下探索其原因,识别其文化立场,引导学生分析片中论及的中国社会问题,从中国传统文化与当代国情中探索原因,并与英语文化进行对比,通过与他者的对比,帮助大学生逐渐明确自身文化身份。
A survey was conducted on the cultural consciousness of over three hundred non-English-major college students after watching the BBC documentary Secrets of China. Results indicate that Chinese college students have difficulty in finding out the cultural stand of the documentary and the causes of problems in Chinese education discussed in the documentary. Due to lack of knowledge of the British education, they can hardly make appropriate comparisons between the two cultures. Interactive activities should be made full use of in classroom teaching to help develop college students’ cultural consciousness. The narrative features of BBC documentaries must be analyzed in the big sociocultural environment with help from the teacher. It is believed that the causes of the social problems in China can be found from historical and realistic perspectives. After this the students will have a better understanding of the Chinese culture and their own cultural identity.
