Research on the Upgrade of Economic and Trade Cooperation between Hong Kong and ASEAN under the New Era

香港与东盟经贸关系整体保持良好的发展态势,商品贸易、服务贸易和相互投资有序推进,双方经贸合作高质量发展的实践基础深厚。后疫情时代,面对新冠肺炎疫情、中美贸易摩擦、香港“技术性衰退”以及东盟营商环境复杂等内外部挑战,香港应持续深入践行“一国两制”方针,与东盟共同落实双边自贸协定,利用高质量共建“一带一路”和粤港澳大湾区建设的平台优势,推动双方经贸合作提质增效。

The overall economic and trade relations between Hong Kong and ASEAN have maintained a good momentum of development, with commodity trade, service trade and mutual investment proceeding in an orderly manner. The practical foundation for the high-quality development of bilateral economic and trade cooperation is solid. In the postepidemic era, in order to further release the development potential of economic and trade cooperation, the two sides should actively respond to internal and external challenges such as the COVID-19 Pandemic, Sino-US trade friction,Hong Kong’s"technical recession"and the complex business environment of ASEAN. Thus, Hong Kong should deeply practice "One Country, Two Systems", implement bilateral free trade agreements with ASEAN, take advantage of the platform for high-quality co-construction of the "Belt and Road", the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area, and grasp multiple benefits such as RCEP to improve the two sides’ economic and trade cooperation quality and efficiency.
