模因论视角下《逍遥游》英译对比研究

A Comparative Study of the English Translation of Wandering in Absolute Freedom from the Perspective of Memetic Theory

从模因论的角度出发,以《逍遥游》前半部分作为研究案例,比较理雅各、华兹生和汪榕培的三个英译本,探讨如何合理选择翻译策略,以实现文化意象模因持续有效的传递。经对比分析,认为:从道家文化意象这一核心模因的有效传播来看,《逍遥游》片段三个译本中,汪榕培译本比其他两个译本略胜一筹;在模因传播的初期阶段,归化策略必不可少,随着中英两种语言文化交流的加深,应当在考虑读者接受度的前提下尽量选择异化。

From the perspective of memetic theory,this article compares the three English translations of Legge,Watson and Wang Rongpei with the first half of Wandering in Absolute Freedom as a research case,and discusses how to choose a reasonable translation strategy to achieve cultural images.After comparative analysis,this article holds that from the perspective of the effective dissemination of the core meme of Taoist cultural images,among the three translations of the fragment of Wandering in Absolute Freedom,Wang Rongpei’s translation is better than the other two translations.In the early stage of meme dissemination,the strategy of domestication is indispensable.With the deepening of cultural exchanges between Chinese and English,we should try our best to choose foreignization under the premise of reader acceptance.
