格什温的《F大调钢琴协奏曲》自其诞生之时起,就有人表示这首作品的配器可能是出自他人之手,而指挥家、钢琴家威廉·达利被传言是其真正的配器者。格什温与达利对此也作出了回应。文章将格什温的手稿与出版的总谱进行对比,发现手稿中有着不少稚嫩之处,不太可能是出自像达利这样成熟的配器者之手。因此,作者认为格什温《F大调钢琴协奏曲》的配器虽稍显稚嫩,但确是由他本人完成的。

Ever since the birth of Gershwin’s Piano Concerto in F there were voices that the orchestration was done by William Daly,a conductor and pianist,also a friend of Gershwin,rather than Gershwin himself.Gershwin and Daly both made responses to these hearsays.This article compared Gershwin’s full-score manuscript with the published one,and discovered several details indicating a work of novice,rather than an experienced orchestrator like Daly.Therefore,the orchestration of Piano Concerto in F,though rather inexperienced,was completed by Gershwin himself.
