Diao Benshu’s Multi-therapy for Treatment of Pediatric Epistaxis

刁本恕认为,小儿有脾常不足的生理特点,加之喂养存在问题,故脾胃是小儿鼻衄产生的关键,其基本病机为脾胃失健运,郁积化火,胃火上炎,干于肺(母病及子)、干于肝(土侮木)、干于肾(土乘水)而致血络损伤,迫血错经外溢,故治疗关键在于泄热凉血。本文总结刁老用中药内服、食疗、外治等综合治疗小儿鼻衄的经验,值得临床借鉴。

Master Diao Benshu believes that children have the physiological characteristics of often deficient spleen,coupled with feeding problems.Therefore,the spleen and stomach are the keys to the occurrence of epistaxis in children.The basic pathogenesis is spleen and stomach loss of health,stagnation and fire,inflammation of the stomach.Spleen and stomach diseases affect the lung(mother’disease leads to child’s disease),spleen and stomach diseases affect the liver(earth insults wood),spleen and stomach diseases affect the kidney(earth invades water),and cause blood network damage,forcing blood to flow through the wrong stream,so the key to treatment is to relieve heat and cool blood.This article summarized the comprehensive treatment of master Diao,such as internal administration,food therapy and external treatment for pediatric epistaxis,which is worthy of clinical reference.
