Objective In order to improve the usability and comfort of personal protective masks, this research analyzed the design demands of personal protective masks from the perspective of users, providing improvement and development for personal protective masks. Methods Based on Kano model, the design demands information of personal protective mask was divided into several attributes initially. Then the required attributes of each designing demand item and category were further divided by the Better-Worse coefficient analysis method to obtain the final Kano required attributes. Results Among the 24 design demands,7 items are One-Dimensional requirement,4 items are Attractive requirement,11 items are Indifference requirement and 2 items are Must-be requirement;of the 6 designing demand categories,3 items are One-Dimensional requirement,1 item is Attractive requirement, and 2 items are Indifference requirement. Conclusion With the Kano attribute analysis for the design demands of personal protective masks, researchers were able to learn the importance of various design demands and categories from the users perspective, providing emphasis on the function development and design improvement of personal protective masks, finally to boost users'satisfaction and better experience of personal protective masks.
