大型庆典标示语翻译现状管窥——以浙大120周年校庆标示语翻译为例

Translation for Grand Celebration Signs based on the Examples in the 120th Anniversary of Zhejing University

浙江大学建校120周年校庆纪念大会的庆典标示语出现多处英文翻译错误,给这所百年名校带来了不小的负面影响。浙大校庆错译实际上是我们所面临的大型庆典活动标示语翻译现状的一个缩影。因此,本文从浙大120周年大型庆典标示语错译问题入手,首先指出了此次庆典标示语翻译中存在的问题并对错译实例加以分析;同时,笔者就如何解决大型庆典标示语错译这一令人堪忧的现状提出改进建议,即译者对待庆典标识语翻译工作的态度、译者对庆典标识语翻译实践的认识、社会对庆典标识语翻译重要性认知等都要加以切实的重视,希望能给庆典标示语翻译研究提供一定的参考,以期杜绝庆典标示语错译问题的继续发生。

There are some English translation errors in the signs of grand celebration for the 120th anniversary of the founding of Zhejiang University,which has brought a negative impact on this key and famous university. The mistranslation is in fact an epitome of the present situations for sign translation of the grand celebrations. The problems in the sign translation of the typical case are analyzed. It is suggested that the translators’ attitude,the translators’ perception of the translation practice,and the importance cognition of the translation be emphasized so as to provide some reference for the translation study and improve the worrying situation of mistranslation of grand celebration signs.
